The Old House

The medium I chose on this one is Pastel. I have visited this scene many times over the years. It's an abandoned house that was once smothered in trees. Well the owners of the property decided to cut down the trees it was a good break for an aspiring artist, right? This scene I photographed in August. It was in the morning and the light was cloudy bright. I am drawn to old weathered buildings. I guess its the texture mostly, But also what family must have really enjoyed that home once upon a time. The process I used was a dry underpainting, rubbed in with pipe foam insulation. Thistle flowers were a Nupastel scraped with a pallet knife and pushed in.
