Across the Pond

The medium I chose was pastel. I came across this scene in late August driving down a gravel road. Needless to say I slammed on the breaks to take a photo of this. I was inspired by the gentle light, the sky composition, which isn't always laid out for you and the wave patterns on the pond. I liked the composition also, it all angled in toward the distant meadow which was the focal point I chose. Sometimes it's being in the right spot at the right time. This certainly was my lucky day. The process used was a dry underpainting using warmer colors. Pastels were: Nupastels, Unison and Carbothello pastel pencils!
