This painting is on Nuart (beige) 400 grit paper. I started with an acrylic ink underpainting and layered Art Spectrum and Diane Townsend soft pastels with an occasional touch of a pastel pencil (Stabilo, Caran d'Ache, or Conte). This painting was based on photo from a visit to my brother-in-law's in the Roman countryside. I loved the curve of this road bordered by typical Italian pine trees. Although the road was empty when I took the shot, I decided to add two little girls running toward the bend in the road.
