Turquoise Lake, Sky & Snow

On a chilly winter day, a dear artist friend and I visited lovely Lake Needwood near Rockville Maryland. The turquoise sky was reflected in the water and the snow. It was gorgeous, and the path out to the water called out to be photographed. I knew I would use my luscious blue pastels to try to capture this extraordinary scene. The air was so crisp and clear. And I could see the golden details of the days ending sun upon the scattered branches, brush and twigs. Every detail lit up so beautifully. Such a memorably rare and unexpected day.
