"Hector and Antoinette" is a double page spread from my children's picture book biography about Hector Pieterson, a boy killed during the Soweto, South Africa school protests in 1976. The book's title is Hector: A Boy, A Protest and the Photograph That Changed Apartheid, and this image depicts the scene where brother and sister flee police tear gas and bullets, and run in opposite directions. I've also used some collage in the illustration.
