Kakariki - Bright Eyes

Medium: Pastel
Inspired by a visit to Ulva Island; a precious albeit small predator free sanctuary, which is part of Stewart Island in New Zealand. The Red Crowned Parakeets/Kakariki parakeets are rare on the North and South Island.
It was such a pleasure to observe a relatively large number of these birds on Ulva. Often seen in groups, they looked so joyful and full of vitality. I worked from my own photographs that I took and memories from that experience.
