Gagage'win'kwe (Everlasting Mist Woman)

This is the third painting for the "One Circle, Many Hearts" project. It depicts a woman who is Martin clan and is the sole survivor of her family in the area in MN, we now refer to as the Leech Lake Reservation. She is about to feast her son's name, Nigaanii Bines (First Thunderbird). This painting was cropped to fit the file size. It has eagles and the faces of her relatives in the landscape. Grandmother Cedar keeps her and her baby safe and her clan helps provide eggs to her for the feast she will prepare for her son's name.
