The First Wave

I have recently enjoyed capturing movement in water, specifically ocean waves. I grew up near the water, spending my summers on the beach and in the water so have always enjoyed both the dynamic and calming nature of the ocean. I feel that I can best capture both aspects using the medium of soft pastels. And in using a sanded substrate, I am able to apply multiple layers to vary the effects and movement as well as the mood.
