I visited for the first time the Adams Wildlife Sanctuary and came upon a Downy Woodpecker in a tree. I took a photo of the bird. When I decided to do a pastel of the Downy, I developed the background so that it was more abstract. Since it was Fall I decided to use yellows to warm the background.
