Yellow Fields

This piece is a field in El Paso , TX where small yellow flowers blanket the area. I started with a dark purple back ground and used soft pastels in a broken, loose manner. I let the dark color show between the strokes, using a single layer of strokes...no layering or blending. The contrast between the dark and the bright colors gives the piece a vibrancy and energy.
