Change of Seasons

This painting is an image from a walk in one of my favorite state parks in PA. I was struck by how peaceful the water was and how it looked like glass and wanted to capture both the feeling the scene gave me as well as the impression of the water as it reflected the trees adjacent to it. I did a local color under painting using hard pastels with alcohol and completed it with a variety of soft pastels. At the end I dragged a piece of insulation foam across the water reflections in the center of the painting to give that glass-like feeling on UArt 400 8 ply board.
