This painting was a challenge to myself to complete the painting using one technique--stippling. The subject matter lent itself to trying this. There was no initial drawing and every mark with the exception of some tree trunks and branches used the stippling technique. It took forever but I found the process enjoyable. I painted on UArt 500 grit paper beginning with indigo blue, burnt umber and a darker value olive green to lay in the darks using hard pastels and proceeded from there using a variety of soft pastels to complete the painting
