Gimli in the Sunshine

I used a handmade surface on Gatorboard and applied an underpainting of warm acrylics to emphasize three values (light, medium, and dark). I then applied soft pastels in mainly local colors to create this painting of my cat, Gimli, who was basking in the sunshine coming in a window.
