Winter Coffee Break

This is Pastel on Pastel Mat. This is from a reference photo I took while on a visit to NYC at Christmas several years ago. These two women were having coffee in Bryant Park, and I was wondered what they were having a discussing about over their coffee. This had a hard pastel local color underpainting, then I used my soft pastels, mostly Terry Ludwigs and Mount Visions. Worked to get the shadowing and form of the coats, and really enjoyed getting the bright red of the plastic chair she was sitting on.
